GUIDELINES FOR PIGMENTING BACKUP LAYER

It is very necessary to understand that the Quality of the Colour and the Texture of the Finished product can only be properly brought out by correct pigmenting of the CSM layer Resin. This is of course a matter of user preference but we give below pigments/colours which will bring out the colour of the "PHANTOM VEIL" to greater advantage. For opaque coloured laminates, before adding the required colour/pigment, it is absolutely necessary to opacify the resin by first adding white pigment or titanium dioxide ( rutile grade ), to a milky consistency. After adding the opacifying white you may follow the guidelines with respect to the pigments/colours to be added to the laminating resin for the CSM layers.

Internationally RAL is an accepted means of recognizing & defining colours from well standardized Colour Charts. RAL is RAL German Institute for Quality Assurance and Certification. In 1927 a long standing wish of colour producers for a single unified colour range was established, by means of the RAL Colour Collection. Since then RAL has constantly aimed for standardisation and numerical identification of colour samples for easy interpretation by the users. The numerical notation of the colour samples guarantees a clear, concise communication that is understood by many industries. We base our recommendations on these norms.

For further clarifications contact renowned Pigment Manufacturers in India. Having advised about the selection and use of back-up pigments for laminates made from Phantom Veil. We have contacted some such pigment manufacturers and have exchanged views about the need to supply Light Stable Pigments resistant to prolonged exposure to sunlight, and Ultra Violet stability.

Please further verify directly from them about any certificates that you may need to ensure that the pigments you may procure are in fact light stable and resistant to UV exposure:

Important Notes : 1) It is very important to ensure that for outdoor applications, only Ultra -Violet light stable pigments are used in the back-up CSM layers.. 2) Normal unstabilised pigments may fade on prolonged exposure to sunlight and mar the colour effect of both the "PHANTOM VEIL" and also the finished laminate over a period of time hence this is a crucial precaution.-- Please ask your pigment suppliers to ensure that each batch of pigment supplied is accompanied by a Test Certificate from some reputed Test House, giving the results and the details of the test, plus mention of the relevant BIS ;ASTM , BSS; ISO Number etc as the case may be. 3) Also for exposure to high levels of light exposure, please use Polyester Resins with UV barriers. Consult Network Polymers for Cat Nos of such recommended Resins.
