COMPOSITES SOLUTION (Formerly Known as FRP ACCESSORIES) are pioneers in introduction and developing of printed surfacing veil under the brand name of “Phantom Veil” used in FRP/GRP industry. "PHANTOM VEIL" - Fibreglass/Polyester Wood Grain, Marble, General Purpose Designs, Coloured Labels & Logos and Wall Tile Textures are the latest International Innovation with respect to Surface Designs and textures of FRP/GRP Mouldings.
We are actively engaged in further improvements, introducing new designs, application development and promotional work. Both fiberglass and polyester mats/ veils are based on surface mats/ veils which have been in use by the FRP industry since its inception . Special binders, dyes, and pigments have been developed for imaging on " PHANTOM VEIL " considering the chemistry of polyester / epoxy systems and also other environment factors like exposure to sunlight etc.
Moulding methods and procedures for the use of " PHANTOM VEIL" are therefore not radically different from established moulding methods using surface mats / veils.
Usages :
Fibreglass/Polyester Surface Design Textures developed by us have opened up an entirely new perspective for surface finishes for the following identified usages, with additional possibilities
Properties :
"PHANTOM VEIL" displays similar laminating properties as Fibreglass and Polyester Surfacing Mats / Veils in terms of Wet-out, Glass/Resin ratio, Drape, Pliability and Porosity. The colours / dyes are light stable, will not smudge when laminating and are compatible with Polyester Resins. The optimum density for FRP Laminating -" Hand - lay-up", RTM, Matched Die moulding and Pultrusion is 30 gms/M2.
Trials conducted in India show Fibreglass / Polyester "PHANTOM VEIL" to conform to contours, without entrapping air bubbles. Glass to Resin ratios can be varied from 1:6 to 1:10 as required. Unlike Plywood Veneers and Melamine Formaldehyde (Formica) type sheets used in panels and table tops ,FRP/GRP with these Textures can be moulded as Rounds ,Ovals, Elliptical and other smooth Curvatures, whereas plywood veneers and melamine formaldehyde ( Formica ) can only be used as flat sheets.
Variety in Finishes & Tints :
Given the same Fibreglass Designed Texture a range of laminate surface finishes can be achieved by monitoring the mould finish from "matt-glossy- glassy". Also by varying the amount of pigment blends in the laminating resin, optimum laminate "tints" can also be obtained as required by the end user.
Note :
Laminating procedures has been optimised by Composites Solution (Formerly FRP ACCESSORIES) with the help of some of the leading manufactures of FRP Doors, Decorative Laminates and Panels in Western India. Other moulders may have their own expertise to improve further on established manufacturing procedures, and can thus produce even more enhanced results.
Fibreglass Design Textures are meant for Flat Sheets, Smooth Contours and Single Curvatures. Moulds should not have sharp edges; this is a design essential for all Hand Lay -up FRP work in any case. Where some sharp edges are unavoidable , prefil with Clear Resin to create a curvature before the lay up sequence is commenced.
